Rekha was first noticed by Project I Am staff when she was digging through a local dump for scrap metal to sell.

Shalem Raj

Shalem Raj witnessed the murder of his mother and father during a home invasion leaving him very traumatized. For a while, he lived in his aunt’s home, but she was physically abusive to him.

Sanjay

Sanjay’s father died when he was four years old and his mother, shortly after, abandoned him.

Vishnu

Vishnu had only ever known the streets as home. Being the oldest of five siblings, he needed a way to take care of them. A local gang trained him to be a professional pickpocketer.

Ganesh

Ganesh’s mother died when he was  2 years old and his father was murdered in 2017. With no one to care for him, he was living on streets and begging for money and food to survive.

Ajay

Ajay was living on the streets with his four other siblings. Him and his older brother spent the day doing odd jobs and begging in order to buy enough food to take care of his younger siblings.

Naresh

Naresh’s mother died when he was  4 years old and his father was murdered in 2017. With no one to care for him, he was living on streets and begging for money and food to survive.

Ramesh

The only life Ramesh knew was playing in the streets and sleeping under a tarp on the side of a major street. His father was murdered in 2016 and his mother was a chronic alcoholic.

Ashok

Ashok was left to care for himself on the streets after his father was murdered and his mother became a chronic alcoholic. He would beg all day in the streets, sometimes selling pens and balloons.

Abinay E

Abiney lost his father at a young age. He was forced to work odd jobs to care for his sick mother. His education was not a priority and he soon fell behind in school.
